Outpatient Sedation & General Anesthesia

The office of David L. Sykes DMD, LLC is pleased to provide safe outpatient sedation and general anesthesia to patients going into surgery. There are three different levels of sedation: moderate (conscious), deep sedation, and general sedation. The main difference between these three levels is awareness versus complete unawareness.

During moderate sedation, our oral surgeon administers a combination of medicines to help you relax and block pain during a procedure. You will most likely stay awake, but you may not be able to speak. You will also be able to respond to verbal commands, either alone or accompanied by light stimulation. Moderate sedation allows for a quicker recovery and the ability to return to your everyday activities following your procedure.

Deep sedation is a drug-induced depression of consciousness. During this type of sedation, you cannot be easily aroused but can respond following repeated stimulation. Cardiovascular function is monitored and maintained.

We are pleased to provide extensive knowledge and experience in determining which sedation option is best for you.
